Latin saying- vincit qui se vincit
Meaning- He conquers who conquers himself
If we don’t conquer our own ego no victory will ever be complete. But it’s tricky, because conquering looks and feels a lot like destroying. It hurts.
But we can’t destroy the parts of ourselves that are infinite. We are really just knocking down the walls we have built around ourselves to hide who we really are.
Our task is not to become anything, but to unbecome all that we are not.
This piece is part of my "Dead Language, Undead Truth" collection, which includes black and white illustrations that symbolize the latin phrase I paired them with.
