Latin saying- incepto ne desistam
Meaning- May I not shrink from my purpose
I’ve always been drawn to leadership.
Maybe it’s because I’m the oldest of 4 kids, maybe it’s part of my calling.
I’m not sure.
But I do know that I used to be a tugboat and now I’m a lighthouse.
Here is the difference.
-You expose yourself to the storm over and over again trying to save people who may or may not want to be saved, because “that’s your job.”
-You feel responsible for other people’s results, but because you can’t control their actions you always feel frustrated.
-You run yourself ragged and often get taken advantage of because of your work ethic. People always expect more from you, so you never feel fulfilled.
-You are limited based on time and energy to how many people you can drag along and save. ...Lighthouse leadership...
-You stand firm and shine your light. You give people the tools to save themselves.
-You only feel responsible for your own efforts and performing at your personal best, you know you can control those things and feel empowered.
-Everyone knows your boundaries. They know what they can and cannot expect from you. Because of this you have integrity and rarely disappoint people.
-Your ability to influence people is unlimited.
When life gets stormy, as it often does, and I find myself wanting to control and fix and force and fight and save...
I take a deep breathe and affirm, “You were created to be a lighthouse, all you must do is stand tall and shine your sacred light.”
